World Environment Day is celebrated every year on the 5th of June and is the United Nation principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment. The theme for 2019, #BeatAirPollution, is a call to take action and to combat this global crisis.
Keeping this in mind Sanskriti The Gurukul celebrated World Environment Day on 4th June 2019 with great enthusiasm. The students of environmental science department from SC-X to XII painted a canvas to create awareness on conservation of biodiversity, which was unveiled and presented to the School. As an effort to generate awareness towards declining Avian Population and as the part of Citizen Science Programme, the students of SC-III presented bird feeders created by them, to the local people and generated public awareness on avian conservation in a nearby village, Pamohi. In continuation, students made the bird feeders for the school campus and spoke about its importance in the school assembly.
To generate awareness about reducing the waste produced, the students of SC-IX to XII from the Department of Environmental Science collected various waste items from the school educators and upcycled it into useful products such as bags, pencil pouches, flower vase, paperweights, stationary boards, etc and gifted it to the Educators and various departments.
Keeping up with the theme of World Environment Day, the students of SC-IX spoke about indoor air purifying plants and students from SC-X presented a Nukkad Natak on the harmful effects of air pollution.
